Where we drop you in Costa Mujeres

Costa Mujeres is the newest resort area north of Cancun, beyond Playa Mujeres and Punta Sam. It is thirty to forty minutes from the airport, and since almost everything there is a large resort, a private transfer with a meet and greet inside the terminal removes the most uncomfortable part of arriving.

A resort strip with no town

Costa Mujeres is the resort strip built north of Cancun, past Punta Sam, facing the channel that separates the mainland from Isla Mujeres. There is no town centre and no high street: just large hotels with their own stretch of beach, one after another, along a road that ends in the area itself and where public transport is thin compared with what runs through the Cancun Hotel Zone.

That shapes who travels here and how. Most arrive on an all-inclusive package and do not plan to leave the hotel except for the odd excursion, so the arrival transfer and the return are effectively the only two journeys of the trip. When everything else is handled by the hotel, having those two settled in advance closes the one gap left in the plan.

Close to Isla Mujeres and the ferry

From Costa Mujeres, Isla Mujeres sits right across the water, but you cross by ferry from Puerto Juárez or from Punta Sam, which is where the boat that takes vehicles leaves. Both piers lie south of the resort strip, between the airport and the hotels, so they are already on the way if the island is the plan for the day, or the plan for the first night before settling into the resort.

We also run those legs on their own, as we do to Puerto Juárez or Punta Sam, with the same private vehicle and the same price fixed before booking. And if you land intending to cross to the island the same day, telling us when you book means we can drop you straight at the pier with your luggage, instead of going up to the hotel first and then coming back down the same road.

Arriving at and leaving a resort

The resorts here have long driveways with a gatehouse and a reception that can sit some way back from the road. Our driver clears the checkpoint with the booking in your name and leaves you with your luggage at the lobby door, which is the real difference from a shared transfer that groups several hotels together and drops passengers off in whatever order happens to suit the route.

The return works the same in reverse: a shared transfer collects very early because it has to call at other hotels first. Travelling with your group alone, the hour depends only on your own flight and on the thirty to forty minute run to the terminal, so the last breakfast of the holiday is not spent sitting in the lobby with the cases already packed.

Frequently asked questions

What is worth knowing before you book

How much is the transfer to Costa Mujeres?

$69.99 USD one way for up to 8 passengers and $139.98 USD round trip. It is the price of the whole vehicle: no charge per person or per bag, and tolls and taxes are already in it. It is closed before you book, so it does not move with traffic leaving the airport or with the hour your flight lands, and nothing is added on arrival.

How long does the airport to Costa Mujeres take?

Between thirty and forty minutes, depending on traffic and where in the area your hotel sits. The drive crosses north of the Cancun Hotel Zone and passes Punta Sam, and the furthest resorts stand at the end of long driveways, so the last minutes are internal access rather than open road. The driver takes that stretch too, at no extra charge.

Can I book a round trip?

Yes, and it works out better than two one-ways: $139.98 USD against $69.99 USD for each leg booked separately. For a round trip we work the pick-up time backwards from your departing flight, allowing for the drive and check-in at the terminal, and confirm it the day before with the pick-up point at the resort.

What does the Costa Mujeres transfer include?

A private air-conditioned vehicle for your group alone, a bilingual driver, flight tracking and a meet and greet inside the terminal with a sign bearing your name. It covers tolls, taxes, luggage at no per-bag charge and child seats. If the plane is delayed we wait, and the waiting is not charged.

How is the transfer paid?

By card or with PayPal when you book, or in cash on the day of travel, in pesos or in dollars. No payment method carries a surcharge and the published price is the same for all of them. If your resort is all inclusive and you would rather not carry cash on arrival, paying by card before you fly is the easiest route.

Is Costa Mujeres on Isla Mujeres?

No. Costa Mujeres is on the mainland, north of the Cancun Hotel Zone and past Punta Sam, and you reach the island by ferry. The name invites confusion, but the transfer destination is the mainland resort strip, thirty to forty minutes from the airport.

Can you take me to the Isla Mujeres ferry?

Yes. The Puerto Juárez and Punta Sam piers sit between the airport and Costa Mujeres, so you can book the transfer straight to the ferry or the leg on its own from your resort. Tell us when booking so we drop you at the right pier.

Do you drive up to the resort reception?

Yes. The resorts here have a gatehouse and long driveways. The driver clears the checkpoint with the booking in your name and leaves you with your luggage at the lobby door, not on the road or at a meeting point shared with other hotels.

Can I get an Uber from the airport?

No. Uber cannot pick up inside Cancun Airport: the airport's ground transport concession belongs to the authorised taxis, and taking an Uber would mean walking out of the grounds to the highway, which makes no sense with luggage. And beyond Cancun and Playa del Carmen the service is patchy where it exists at all, so counting on it for a transfer with luggage and a time to keep is a gamble.

Where is the official taxi rank at the airport?

As you come out of arrivals you will find the Caribbean Taxi desks, the company that holds the airport concession: you follow the yellow signs and pay the zone fare there. It is a legitimate option, but it means queuing with your bags at the end of a flight and not knowing the amount until that moment. What is not worth doing is taking up an offer from anyone approaching you at the exit with no uniform and no desk. Booking ahead skips the queue: the price is fixed and the driver waits with a sign in your name.

Where exactly do you drop us?

Costa Mujeres is the beachfront resorts, and next to it are Playa Mujeres, Punta Sam and Puerto Juárez, where the Isla Mujeres ferries leave from. You go up the Punta Sam road, past the piers. Give us the address or the name of your accommodation when you book and the driver takes you to the door.

How it works

From the plane to the hotel, without a single queue

What actually happens from the moment the aircraft doors open.

1
Official meeting point inside the terminal

You book and the confirmation arrives

Pick your destination and vehicle, and within minutes your confirmation is in your inbox with the exact meeting point.

2
Uniformed and identified Smile & Go staff

We wait for you inside the terminal

A uniformed representative waits as you clear customs, holding a sign with your name. Nobody to look for, no stepping outside to haggle.

3
Direct arrival at the hotel entrance

Straight to your hotel door

No stops, nobody else to collect, no detours. You arrive at your hotel entrance, not at a nearby point.

The difference

The three questions we are always asked

Why private instead of a shared shuttle?

A shared shuttle makes several stops before yours: 45 to 90 extra minutes after a long flight. Here the vehicle leaves with you and does not stop until your hotel.

Are you allowed inside the airport?

Yes. We hold an official permit to operate inside CUN and TQO, which is why we can meet you inside the terminal with your name on a sign instead of arranging to meet outside.

What if my flight is delayed?

We track the flight number you give us and move the pick-up ourselves. The waiting is not charged: the delay is not your fault.
