Where we drop you in Puerto Aventuras

Puerto Aventuras is a little over an hour from Cancun Airport along Federal Highway 307. It is a gated marina community, so access is controlled: arriving in a vehicle booked under your name saves the conversation at the gate.

A gated marina community

Puerto Aventuras is not an open town but a gated development built around a marina, with hotels, condominiums, a golf course, shops and restaurants inside the same perimeter. It sits on Federal Highway 307 between Playa del Carmen and Akumal, and it appeals above all to families and groups renting an apartment for several days who want everything within walking distance.

Being gated changes the arrival. The entrance has a gatehouse and access control, the internal streets are organised by complex and tower, and a postal address on its own is not always enough to find the right door. It pays to have the name of the condominium and the unit number to hand when you book, along with the name the accommodation reservation is under, so the driver goes through the gate straight to your door.

U-turns and lanes on Highway 307

Federal Highway 307 keeps the two directions separated, and access to the coastal developments is handled through designated U-turns: to enter a destination on the far side you carry on past it to the nearest turnaround and come back down the other carriageway. That is why the journey back does not always retrace exactly the route you took on the way out.

For a passenger that means little if the driver knows the stretch, and quite a lot if you are at the wheel of a rental car picked up an hour ago, reading the signs as they come. It is one reason a direct transfer pays off along this part of the coast: you reach the gatehouse without detours or missed turnings, in a vehicle already assigned to your name before you took off.

Xpu-Há, Paamul and nearby

The same stretch holds Xpu-Há and Paamul, two beaches with small hotels and camper areas that share the access roads off Highway 307 and fall within our Puerto Aventuras coverage. They are short turnings running from the highway towards the sea, the kind shared transport does not drive, and where arriving at night without a clear reference gets awkward.

From Puerto Aventuras, Playa del Carmen lies north and Akumal and Tulum south, all under an hour along the same road, so we run those legs on their own too. We also cover the complex from Tulum Airport, where we hold an official permit just as we do in Cancun, with the same private vehicle, the same meet and greet inside the terminal and the same price fixed before you book.

Frequently asked questions

What is worth knowing before you book

How much is the transfer to Puerto Aventuras?

$89.99 USD one way for up to 8 passengers and $179.98 USD round trip. It is the price of the whole vehicle, not per person or per bag, and it already carries the tolls and taxes of Federal Highway 307. It is closed before you book, so it does not move with traffic, with your landing time, or with how long the gate takes. What you see at booking is what you pay.

Do you drive inside the complex?

Yes. Puerto Aventuras has controlled access and our drivers go in with the booking under your name, so we drop you at your door and not at the gate. That matters most at night or with sleeping children, since the marina and the condominiums are spread out inside and it is a fair walk from the entrance with luggage. Give us the exact hotel, condominium or villa name when you book.

What is included in the price of the Puerto Aventuras transfer?

A private air-conditioned vehicle carrying your group alone, a bilingual driver, flight tracking and a meet and greet inside the terminal with a sign bearing your name. It covers tolls, taxes, luggage at no per-bag charge, child seats, and going through the gate with the booking in your name. If the plane is late, the waiting is not charged and we move the pick-up ourselves, without you having to call.

Can I book the return from Puerto Aventuras to the airport?

Yes, and it pays to arrange it from the start: the round trip is $179.98 USD and it saves hunting for a vehicle inside a gated community on departure day. We work the pick-up backwards from your flight, allowing for the long hour on Highway 307 and check-in at the terminal, and confirm it the day before, along with the exact pick-up spot inside Puerto Aventuras.

How long is the airport to Puerto Aventuras?

A little over an hour along Federal Highway 307, past Playa del Carmen. The time varies with traffic leaving the airport and with the hour you land; the price does not, because it is fixed before you book and includes tolls and taxes.

Do you also go to Xpu-Há and Paamul?

Yes, they fall within the same coverage. They are short turnings off Highway 307 towards the beach, the kind shared transport does not drive. Give us the name of the hotel or camper park when booking and we take you to the entrance, not the highway.

Do you run transfers from Tulum Airport?

Yes. We hold an official permit at Tulum Airport just as we do at Cancun, and we cover Puerto Aventuras from both terminals and in both directions, meeting you inside the building with a sign, at a price fixed before you book.

Can I get an Uber from the airport?

No. Uber cannot pick up inside Cancun Airport: the airport's ground transport concession belongs to the authorised taxis, and taking an Uber would mean walking out of the grounds to the highway, which makes no sense with luggage. And beyond Cancun and Playa del Carmen the service is patchy where it exists at all, so counting on it for a transfer with luggage and a time to keep is a gamble.

Where is the official taxi rank at the airport?

As you come out of arrivals you will find the Caribbean Taxi desks, the company that holds the airport concession: you follow the yellow signs and pay the zone fare there. It is a legitimate option, but it means queuing with your bags at the end of a flight and not knowing the amount until that moment. What is not worth doing is taking up an offer from anyone approaching you at the exit with no uniform and no desk. Booking ahead skips the queue: the price is fixed and the driver waits with a sign in your name.

Where exactly do you drop us?

Puerto Aventuras is a gated development with a marina: the hotel area, the condos and villas inside, and Xpu-Há and Paamul next door. You go in through a gatehouse under the booking name, so it helps to give it exactly as it appears on your accommodation contract. Give us the address or the name of your accommodation when you book and the driver takes you to the door.

How it works

From the plane to the hotel, without a single queue

What actually happens from the moment the aircraft doors open.

1
Official meeting point inside the terminal

You book and the confirmation arrives

Pick your destination and vehicle, and within minutes your confirmation is in your inbox with the exact meeting point.

2
Uniformed and identified Smile & Go staff

We wait for you inside the terminal

A uniformed representative waits as you clear customs, holding a sign with your name. Nobody to look for, no stepping outside to haggle.

3
Direct arrival at the hotel entrance

Straight to your hotel door

No stops, nobody else to collect, no detours. You arrive at your hotel entrance, not at a nearby point.

The difference

The three questions we are always asked

Why private instead of a shared shuttle?

A shared shuttle makes several stops before yours: 45 to 90 extra minutes after a long flight. Here the vehicle leaves with you and does not stop until your hotel.

Are you allowed inside the airport?

Yes. We hold an official permit to operate inside CUN and TQO, which is why we can meet you inside the terminal with your name on a sign instead of arranging to meet outside.

What if my flight is delayed?

We track the flight number you give us and move the pick-up ourselves. The waiting is not charged: the delay is not your fault.
