Landmarks in the centre and nearby

Valladolid is a colonial city in the state of Yucatan, well inland: streets of coloured facades, a convent at the end of the Calzada de los Frailes, a cenote within the city itself and more cenotes in the surrounding countryside. Many travellers also use it as a base for visiting Chichen Itza without setting off from the coast before dawn. The private transfer leaves Cancun International Airport and goes straight to the address you give in Valladolid, with the vehicle price closed before you book.

  • Main square and San Gervasio church
  • Calzada de los Frailes
  • San Bernardino de Siena convent
  • Cenote Zaci, inside the city
  • Dzitnup cenotes, just outside town
  • On the way to Chichen Itza

A colonial city, not a resort strip

Valladolid looks nothing like the coastal destinations: it is a real working city, with its square, its church, markets, streets of low houses painted in strong colours and a daily life that carries on whether visitors are there or not. The Calzada de los Frailes ends at the San Bernardino de Siena convent, and the Zaci cenote sits right inside town, walkable from the centre.

Accommodation here tends to be in colonial houses in the centre or in small hotels on the surrounding streets, not in a hotel zone. That changes the arrival: instead of an avenue of resorts, the driver comes into a grid of narrow streets, which is why the exact address you enter when booking matters more here than in other destinations, and a nearby landmark helps even more.

A base for Chichen Itza and cenotes

A good share of the people who book this transfer stay in Valladolid because it is a natural stop on the way to Chichen Itza and to the cenotes around it, including the ones at Dzitnup just outside town. Sleeping here avoids the very early start you need from the Riviera Maya and spreads the journey out instead of doing it all on arrival day with suitcases and tired children in tow.

This transfer covers the airport to Valladolid leg: any visits afterwards are a separate matter and are arranged on their own. If you also want trips out from the city, ask when you book so that it is confirmed in writing with its own closed price, rather than leaving it to be negotiated with the driver on the day, when it is too late to fit the timings together.

Crossing into Yucatan at a closed price

The journey leaves Quintana Roo and crosses into the state of Yucatan. Tolls and taxes for the route are already inside the price you see before booking, so the driver will not ask you for anything along the way. You pay by card or PayPal when booking, or in cash to the driver, in pesos or in dollars, whichever suits you. What you see when booking is what you pay.

It is a long trip, which is why most people rule out chaining buses together with suitcases after a flight: here the vehicle carries your group only, goes straight to your address, and the driver waits for you inside the terminal with a sign showing your name, at no extra charge if the plane is delayed. That difference shows most on the day you land tired and late.

Frequently asked questions

What is worth knowing before you book

How much does the transfer from Cancun Airport to Valladolid cost?

The private transfer costs $274.99 USD one way and $549.98 USD round trip. That is the price of the whole vehicle, for 1 to 8 passengers, with tolls and taxes included. It does not change if you bring more luggage or ask for child seats.

Does Valladolid work as a base for visiting Chichen Itza?

It is one of the most common reasons for staying there: the city is a regular stop on the way to Chichen Itza and to the cenotes nearby. Bear in mind that this transfer covers the airport to Valladolid leg; any visits afterwards are arranged separately.

Is the price per person or per vehicle?

Per vehicle. The same amount covers 1 to 8 passengers, so for a group the split works out far better than a per person transfer. Luggage and child seats carry no additional charge, and the price is closed before you book rather than at the end of the trip.

Are the tolls included when crossing between states?

Yes. The route leaves Quintana Roo and enters Yucatan, and both tolls and taxes are already inside the price you see before booking. The driver charges no supplements along the way: the only thing that may still be pending is the fare itself if you chose to pay in cash.

Will you drop me in the historic centre of Valladolid?

Yes, the transfer is door to door to the address you give. Since the centre is a grid of narrow streets and many places to stay are colonial houses without a large sign, write the full address and a nearby landmark when booking: that way the driver arrives without circling.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

We track the flight number you enter when booking, so the driver adjusts to your actual landing time and the waiting is free. You are met inside the terminal with a sign showing your name, even if you arrive considerably later than scheduled.

Can I get an Uber from the airport?

No. Uber cannot pick up inside Cancun Airport: the airport's ground transport concession belongs to the authorised taxis, and taking an Uber would mean walking out of the grounds to the highway, which makes no sense with luggage. And beyond Cancun and Playa del Carmen the service is patchy where it exists at all, so counting on it for a transfer with luggage and a time to keep is a gamble.

Where is the official taxi rank at the airport?

As you come out of arrivals you will find the Caribbean Taxi desks, the company that holds the airport concession: you follow the yellow signs and pay the zone fare there. It is a legitimate option, but it means queuing with your bags at the end of a flight and not knowing the amount until that moment. What is not worth doing is taking up an offer from anyone approaching you at the exit with no uniform and no desk. Booking ahead skips the queue: the price is fixed and the driver waits with a sign in your name.

Where exactly do you drop us?

Valladolid is a colonial city: the centre with the San Gervasio cathedral, the Calzada de los Frailes, the San Bernardino convent, the Cenote Zací inside the city and the Dzitnup ones just outside. It sits on the way to Chichén Itzá. Give us the address or the name of your accommodation when you book and the driver takes you to the door.

How it works

From the plane to the hotel, without a single queue

What actually happens from the moment the aircraft doors open.

1
Official meeting point inside the terminal

You book and the confirmation arrives

Pick your destination and vehicle, and within minutes your confirmation is in your inbox with the exact meeting point.

2
Uniformed and identified Smile & Go staff

We wait for you inside the terminal

A uniformed representative waits as you clear customs, holding a sign with your name. Nobody to look for, no stepping outside to haggle.

3
Direct arrival at the hotel entrance

Straight to your hotel door

No stops, nobody else to collect, no detours. You arrive at your hotel entrance, not at a nearby point.

The difference

The three questions we are always asked

Why private instead of a shared shuttle?

A shared shuttle makes several stops before yours: 45 to 90 extra minutes after a long flight. Here the vehicle leaves with you and does not stop until your hotel.

Are you allowed inside the airport?

Yes. We hold an official permit to operate inside CUN and TQO, which is why we can meet you inside the terminal with your name on a sign instead of arranging to meet outside.

What if my flight is delayed?

We track the flight number you give us and move the pick-up ourselves. The waiting is not charged: the delay is not your fault.
