How the Hotel Zone is laid out
Boulevard Kukulcan enters the strip from the south, at Punta Nizuc, climbs up to Punta Cancun and comes back down toward the mainland on the north side. Everything in the area sits on that boulevard or a few steps off it: hotels, malls, restaurants, docks and public beaches. That is why locations here are not explained by street name but by the point of the boulevard they sit on, and why it helps to have the exact name of your hotel at hand when you book.
The sea side and the lagoon side are not the same thing. Beach hotels face the Caribbean; across the boulevard from them are the ones facing the Nichupte lagoon, with marinas, boat docks and restaurants over the water. Both sides are equally easy to reach from the airport and the transfer costs the same, so the choice comes down to whether you want to walk straight onto the sand or have the docks and the nightlife in front of you.
Arrival and meeting your driver
We track the flight number you give us when booking, so if you land early or late the driver moves his time with you and the wait costs nothing. Once you clear the baggage belt and the customs check you walk into a long corridor with counters on both sides; this is where most people get confused, because several agents offer transport right there. You do not need to arrange anything in that corridor: your transfer is already paid for and assigned.
Your driver waits at the end of that stretch, still inside the terminal, holding a sign with your name, and walks you to the vehicle. He speaks Spanish and English, so you can confirm the hotel name and tell him if you need a stop on the way. From there the road runs straight to the boulevard. Taxes and any tolls are already inside the price you saw when booking, and nothing extra is charged on arrival.
Luggage, children and the trip back
The vehicle carries your group only, so luggage is not charged separately: large suitcases, strollers, surfboards or golf clubs all fit as long as you tell us what you are bringing when you book, because that is how we send a vehicle of the right size. Child seats are not charged either; you request them with the booking and tell us the ages, so the driver has them fitted when you arrive instead of sorting it out in the parking lot.
If you book a round trip, the return is settled from the start and on departure day you do not have to look for a taxi or agree on a fare. We propose a pickup time at your hotel lobby based on your flight and you confirm it; if your flight changes, we move it. You can pay by card or PayPal when booking, or in cash to the driver, in pesos or dollars, and the price does not change with the payment method.
